At 1,856 km², Hohe Tauern National Park is the biggest nature sanctuary in the Alps, actually straddling three Austrian provinces: Salzburg, Tyrol and Carinthia, established in the 1980s as the very first national park in Austria. Genuine nature experiences in the mountains – during your winter or summer holidays – guaranteed!

Rauris Valley in SalzburgerLand, which is one of the biggest National Park communities, is often nicknamed the “Secret Jewel of Hohe Tauern National Park”. Here in Rauris Valley alone, you will encounter so many different treasures and natural highlights, it’s as if everything you can find in the giant 1800 km² Hohe Tauern National Park, can also be found right here in condensed form. From the cultural and historical highlights of the gold-mining era and the sumpters who once negotiated the glaciers and mighty waterfalls to an array of natural highlights including the den mineralogical treasures of the “Tauern Window” as well as the great birds of prey

Visitors have a wide variety of interactive attractions and theme paths available to them. In Rauris Valley, at the Nationalpark House Wörth and along the "Valley of Vultures Theme Path" you will learn fascinating facts about our birds of prey, while the trail through Rauris Virgin Forest was declared one of the best theme paths in Austria in 2014.
