A long-distance hiking experience in a class of its own

The "Hohe Tauern Panorama Trail" is a long-distance hiking experience in a class of its own: over the course of seventeen daily stages, hikers cover a distance of 275 kilometres. Along the way are natural spectacles, exhibitions, well-kept national park villages and attractive excursion destinations. The trail leads right through the Hohe Tauern National Park holiday region and opens up breathtaking views of Austria's highest mountains. The use of mountain railways or shuttles along the stages as well as a bookable luggage transfer offer maximum comfort and the information and booking centre supports hikers on their hiking trip. In addition, hikers can experience a wide range of offers with the National Park Summer Card at participating businesses.

Stage 12 Hundstein

Start: Bruck an der Glocknerstraße, Finish: Taxenbach

This stage is one of the longest on the Panorama Trail and starts in the village of Bruck an der Glocknerstraße, leading over the highest peak in the Salzburg Slate Alps, the Hundstein. After the ascent, you will be rewarded with a fantastic panoramic view of the mountains. After a break at the summit, you descend towards Taxenbach, past the Hundstein lake, the Pfarrachhöhe and the Rieser Aste mountain hut.

Stage 13 Kitzlochklamm

Start: Taxenbach, Finsih: Embach

This stage leads through the spectacular Kitzlochklamm gorge and on to an ancient pilgrimage chapel. Idyllic bays, impressive bridges, thundering water and a viewing platform with breathtaking views into the depths of the gorge await you in the Kitzlochklamm gorge.  Another highlight of this stage is the Maria Elend pilgrimage chapel, one of the oldest pilgrimage sites in Pinzgau dating back to the 16th century.
