Tauern cycle path
The cross-border Tauern Cycle Path runs directly through Taxenbach. The cycle tour starts in Krimml in Salzburger Land, passes numerous excursion destinations in the Hohe Tauern National Park and ends in Passau in Germany.
Good to know - Tauern Cycle Path:
- Length: 270 km (Tauern cycle route) or 310 km (Krimml-Passau), total route
- Cycle along the Salzach and Saalach rivers
- Cycling with a view, there are countless sights and excursion destinations for breaks

Hohe Tauern Bike Trail
14 national park valleys – your destination
The Hohe Tauern Bike Trail stretches 530 kilometres across the national park region – from the Großarl Valley to the Krimml Waterfalls. The 14 stages offer breathtaking natural experiences with views of the highest peaks in the Hohe Tauern National Park.
Good to know – Hohe Tauern Bike Trail:
- 530 km route and around 12,000 metres of elevation gain, total route
- 14 daily stages with a maximum of 50 km or 1,250 metres of elevation gain per stage
- Route from the Großarl Valley to the Krimml Waterfalls
- Panoramic views of peaks such as the Großglockner, Großvenediger and Kitzsteinhorn
- Suitable for e-MTBs, XC hardtails, full-suspension bikes and gravel bikes
- Recommendation for e-MTBs: battery capacity from 625 Wh and motor power from 70 Nm
